Why You Must Surrender to the Process?

Why You Must Surrender to the Process?

Have you heard about the philosophy ‘of tanking for the draft? It’s a core philosophy in professional sports, in which self-aware teams with no chance to win lose intentionally. This allows them to pick a star player, leading to a better start – knowing losing isn’t permanent.

A great example of surrendering to the process – isn’t it? To live a happy, healthy lifestyle, one must undergo a process. With certain highs and certain lows, you have to accept every part of it. It will not be easy, and you will not like every bit of it. In fact, you might hate the most of it. You will feel like giving up, but that’s when you must remind yourself why you started. Find the power within and keep at it.

Halfway, you might feel your goals are not worth your struggles. Give that feeling a deep thought and if it still feels right – withdraw yourself and focus on a new goal with a better plan & direction this time.

Only some learn to surrender to the process. But it’s possible! Here are a few points which will make surrendering to the process easier for you:

1. Never Miss a Chance to Celebrate

Take one day at a time. Sometimes, the goal is too far away, and you need to be patient and find the motivation to keep you going. The most tried and tasted motivation is – celebrating every little milestone on your way to a bigger goal.

Are you starting your fitness journey? Celebrate completing your 1st 15 mins workout, then 30 mins and then an hour.

Are you aiming for a marathon? Celebrate completing your 1st mile. Then keep adding more miles to it, and that’s how you will win the marathon one day.

That’s how you will grow; that’s how you will reach there.

This process will help ground you and motivate you to move further. Be your excited and best every day. Your best is yet to come – till then, keep celebrating.

2. Embrace Change

Generally, we create a roadmap when we start a journey to achieve a goal. We expect things to unfold a certain way, and when that doesn’t happen, we get stuck. It happens because we are not open to change.

You planned something a certain way, but it didn’t happen – it’s okay! Learn to say that more often to yourself.

Learn to surrender to the process and accept change. It might lead your journey to a better path, and you might find something more significant. Take it as an opportunity to bounce back even stronger.

Be open to new opportunities, fears, obstacles, and wins. Don’t let what-ifs spoil what-is.

3. Give Yourself a Break

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Remember, the more tightly you hold onto something, the more likely you’ll lose the grip.

Binge on a cheat meal every now and then. Go for a vacation. Take a day off to do nothing. Taking a break from your routine helps you start over with newer zeal and perspective.

Your goals are important. But so is giving yourself some rest, and you’ll grow and achieve faster.

4. Trust Your Struggle

Don’t shy away from asking for help from your fitness coach, friends, colleagues, or whoever you feel is right if it gets too overwhelming.

It’s all going to be worth it in the end. Things might look tough now, but they won’t be the same. Have faith and keep working harder.

In the end, it doesn’t matter how long the process takes. The most important thing to remember is that you’re in it, and you’ll get through it. And when that happens – your actual journey will start.
