6 Tips for Cooking for a Large Group

Cooking for a party is a tall task that many people try to get out of. It takes forever, it’s hard to satisfy everybody, and you never know if you’re going to get your dishes back.

This holiday season, save yourself the time and stress of cooking for a large group. Check out these 6 helpful tips for cooking for a large group.

Keep it simple

Save yourself the stress of making a complicated recipe by sticking with the basics. You’ll save yourself the time and the headache of a bunch of steps. If you do it right, everybody will love it.

Go with things that everybody loves. That super complicated recipe is probably great, but it’s better to stick with things that you’ve made before. You’re way less likely to have to start over due to a mess up if you’ve made the dish before.

Make it adaptable

Everybody has dietary restrictions. Try to go with things that anybody can eat or substitute out the things they can’t eat. There are plenty of recipes of different recipes on the internet that are good for everybody.

If you can, separate the pieces of the whole. For example, if you’re making tacos, separate everything out instead of keeping everything together. That way everybody will be able to make their own perfect taco.

Plan and prep ahead

In the days leading up to the meal, prep as much as you can. Cut all your veggies, thaw all your meat, do whatever it takes to make the actual cooking as easy as possible. Nothing is worse than having your kitchen look like a tornado came through.

You’ll thank yourself when all you have to do is throw everything in a pot and cook it. You’ll save time and stress on dishes and prep time so you can actually enjoy the party and food.

Go buffet-style

Going with a buffet instead of a plated meal saves yourself a ton of time. It also saves you the hassle of making sure everyone has enough of everything. They decide for you.

As we said earlier, separate the parts from the whole. Let everybody decide how many servings they want and what they want. It’ll prevent people from being upset that they didn’t get enough of their favorites.

Use a slow cooker

Slow cookers and pressure cookers are your best friends when it comes to large-scale cooking. They’re easy to use, easy to clean, and they make delicious food when used properly.

The internet is full of delicious recipes for slow cookers. For most of them, all you have to do is throw the ingredients in the pot and cook. That’s it. You just wait for the kitchen to smell delicious and let everybody dig in.
