The toughest thing to do is to do the simple things right. It’s hard to say no to a Pizza date with a friend, it’s hard to not give in to mid-night cravings, it’s hard to diet when mom makes your favorite meal, it’s hard to go to the gym after a long tiring day – it’s hard, and it will be. But that’s what makes the difference. When you feel like surrendering to these temptations, take a deep breath and ask yourself, “Is this what I really want?”
The road to success is always challenging. Success needs courage. Courage to make difficult choices, courage to control your temptations, courage to make sacrifices.
Every day you wake up and fight battles at every step. Waking up early is the battle you fight against sleep, having your veggies is the battle you fight against junk food. These tough choices lead you to a happy, healthy lifestyle.
Who doesn’t want some extra choices? Who wouldn’t like to miss the gym to sleep in a little extra? Who doesn’t like some donuts? Making difficult choices is not easy, but it’s the right thing to do. So, choose difficult & right over easy & wrong – be courageous.
Here’s how to be courageous in life:
- Go for the Moon – Your goals might initially seem out of reach. But you are not the kinds to take NO for an answer. You are not a quitter. You set your heart on something and then go for it. That’s what makes you so special.
You reach for the lofty goals because you know you can. You have it in you. You break big goals into small ones and work hard, day in and day out. You are not naïve, you are a dreamer – it’s not easy being you, your courage inspires you to go for the moon.
- Follow Your Inner Voice – You are your own biggest critic. You have self-doubt, but you don’t give in to that feeling. You have confidence in yourself, and you continue working hard.
You have your low moment, but you shudder off the things that weigh you down and gather the courage to get back up. Often, the right thing to do is to listen to that inner voice that guides you in the right direction. Do that.
- Cheerleaders Only – You are surrounded by positive, like-minded people who want you to win. They pat you on your back when you do good and hold you tight when you falter. They know when you want to hear words of encouragement.
But you will not always be surrounded by these people. There will be times when you have naysayers around. People who sow seeds of doubt in your mind. The negative and toxic people. You need to shut them up. Avoid such naysayers, and change your circle. It requires courage to cut them off, but you’re still going to do it – that’s what makes you courageous.
- Be a Gracious Loser – Learn to say, ‘It’s okay when things don’t turn up as planned. So, you didn’t win this time, but that doesn’t make you a loser. Learn your lessons and continue doing you. Be grateful for the learnings; next time, try without repeating the same mistakes.
It needs the courage to stand back on your feet again. You have that courage, so get up and put your game face on. You are going to fight again, and this time you will win.
Remember, success is one courageous step away, so don’t hesitate to take that step.
