Build your team with the right people

The teammates you need to have.

Throughout your life, you’ve met a lot of great people, people who have helped you grow, taught you how to act, and people who held you accountable.

However, you’ve probably met many people who have done the exact opposite; they bring you down, they act poorly, and they encourage you not to reach your potential.

Surrounding yourself with a group of people – a TEAM – who cares about their success and your success is vital for your health, mental and physical.

At FNS Training Center, we’re committed to our team. We want each of our Athletes to be committed, help others, and achieve their goals. We want our Athletes to bring out the best in each other because they are the ones who bring out the best in us.

This week, take a moment to ask yourself: is my circle pushing me to be better? Here’s why that’s important.

Tenacious people make you determined.

Seeing people succeed is motivational, especially when it is someone you are close to. When you see someone accomplish something, it’s human nature to want to achieve something for yourself.

We all have a competitive flame burning inside of us, whether we know it or not. We want to be the best. It’s easy to be the best when surrounded by people who don’t have the same drive for success as you.

Tenacious people are people you can go to for advice. They’re people whom you will want to be around because their energy is magnetic.

Strong people keep you in check.

You don’t want the “Yes Man” in your ear all the time. When you’re doing something wrong, you want your circle to correct you. You don’t want people who will tell you what you want to hear. You want the ones who will tell you what you need to hear.

It may seem odd, but the people who care about you the most will be the ones to call you out when you’re slacking. You want people in your life who want to succeed themselves but also genuinely want to see you thrive.

Kind people pick you up when you are down.

Having tenacity and strength doesn’t mean a person has to be mean. The best people in your circle will be tenacious, strong, AND kind. They’ll be able to inspire and keep you accountable while remaining someone you still like.

You want people with whom you can still have fun. A team of drill sergeants is a little too loud for most people’s tastes. If the people around you are too severe, it may be exhausting. Hard work is hard sometimes. That is inevitable. The best people around you will make hard-working fun.

You will inspire the right people.

Respect is a two-way street. Surround yourself with people who like you. That may seem obvious, but your team should like you for you. They should push you to be better, but they should care about you, not just your success at the end of the day.

You have value, and the people around you should recognize that. There should be a symbiotic relationship of growth and success in your team. When you have that, the sky is the limit.
