How Courageous were You this Week?

How Courageous were You this Week?

Happy Friday! You’re at the end of another successful week, so it’s time to celebrate. Hopefully, you finished everything you needed to and more.

As you go into the weekend, think about everything you did this week. You exercised, you got your work done, and you took care of your family. That’s awesome!

All of those things take personal courage. Courage doesn’t have to mean doing the impossible despite all odds, like you see in the movies. It can mean that you make the right choices in the face of adversity and temptation.

Personal courage can come in a lot of different forms. Any time that you face adversity, have the option to give up, and choose to move past the adversity, you display courage. You may not think it yet, but you are courageous.

As you go about your weekend, ask yourself some of the questions below. They’ll help you evaluate how you’re doing. Hopefully you answer ‘yes’ to all of them, but if you answer ‘no,’ ask yourself why and make a plan to change those answers next week.

Did you get out of your comfort zone?

Actively stepping outside of your comfort zone is courageous. It takes guts to veer off of the safe path that you’re traveling on. You can’t grow or learn without adversity. Even if you didn’t, there’s opportunity over the weekend. Try something new, go somewhere you haven’t been, or do an active recovery workout.

If you tried a new food this week, congrats! That was courageous. If you took one more FNS class than you’re used to, that’s courageous. You made the choices that you knew you needed to make to get better, even it was uncomfortable. You’ve experienced small changes this week that will grow into big changes down the road.

Did you stay consistent with your health?

When it comes to a health, consistency is key. The only way you can truly live with sustainable health is with consistent diet and exercise. An occasional cheat meal or rest day are good things when done sparingly and at the right time, but you have to stay strong. You have to be courageous.

Blowing off a diet is easy. Skipping the gym is easy. Going through the drive thru or eating a box of donuts is easy. Ordering something healthy at a restaurant, skipping dessert is hard, and making yourself exercise is hard. It takes personal courage to do those kinds of things. There’s temptation to make the wrong choice everywhere. Ignore it.

Did you make a plan for next week?

When you work hard, you get tired. Sometimes, you might think you can’t do it anymore. If you had a tough time this week, you may not want to do the same thing next week. It’s probably pretty tempting to coast. That’s why you have to make an action plan.

Making an action plan takes personal courage. It takes mental toughness and commitment to your continued growth. You can do it. Next week, you’ll get more done than you did this week. Next week, you’ll come in courageously to continue your growth, no matter what. We can’t wait to see everything you get done!
