Don’t Forget Your Past — Use it!
Everybody who has ever lived has had difficult times in their life. We all have our own unique, individual battles that we fight every day.
These battles are what define us as individuals. Our struggles are what make us who we are. Without trials and tribulations, we remain stagnant.
You are who you are today because of the battles you’ve won and the ones you’ve lost. Hard times create strong people. You are a strong person now, but you can always become stronger mentally and physically.
Wanting to forget and move on from these difficult times is only natural. But using these low moments as fuel and recognizing that you are a battle-tested winner is how you become strong; it’s how you move forward.
How do you use your past? You use it as a guide, as fuel, and to inspire others. Here’s how:
Let it guide you – Failure is how we learn. When a child first learns to walk, they don’t get up and run a marathon. They must fall, they must cry, and they have to get back up and keep trying.
Don’t repress the moments when you fell. Think about why you lost, then get up and try something different. You may fall again, but then you get back up.
Your experience is your best teacher, and it is always there for you. It can tell you an infinite amount of things that you can improve.
Learn how to change your process, effort, team, and anything else you can find that needs to be improved.
Let it fuel you – Do you hate thinking about times when you fell short? Let that motivate you never to experience that again. Allow it to make you better.
We’ve all had failures and embarrassing moments. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is not letting those things hold you back.
Remember that those things happen to everyone.
Failure is a part of life.
It’s also a fantastic fuel.
Nobody wants it to happen.
Next time you’re feeling unmotivated, think of that time you fell short. Think of how it felt and how you don’t want to feel it again.
Let it inspire others – This one is significant. Having motivated people around you will only make you better. Using your past to inspire yourself will inspire your entire support team.
Was there ever a time that someone you looked up to couldn’t or wouldn’t help you when you needed it? Don’t be that person in someone else’s life. Help the people around you in any way that you can, always. Not only will they get better, but they’ll also help you if you ever need it.
Inspiring others is something that very few people can do. It takes a particular person to be that kind of leader. The thing is: everybody has the ability in them. You can be an inspiration. Work hard and get better every single day. You will be an inspiration.
