For a lot of people, working out alone is boring. Things can get stale quickly if you’re just doing the same thing over and over again on your own.
Exercising with a partner, whether it’s a friend, family member, or significant other, can take that boredom away. You get to be around someone you enjoy while you burn calories and work towards your goals. What can be better than that?
Walking
Walking is one of the best exercises you can do – alone or with a buddy! Walking with a partner at a pace that allows for conversation makes it easy to build up steps while enjoying someone’s company.
The benefits of walking have been widely proven to give you a multitude of different benefits. It reduces your risk of disease, improves your quality of life, and improves your cardiovascular fitness.
Playing a sport or game
Healthy competition is a great way to have fun while burning some calories. If you keep it light and friendly, it’ll be a great time that makes everybody better.
Try something you are both good at. Lopsided competition is never much fun for either party. Maybe you play some basketball, go for a jog, or play a game in the yard. Whatever you do, just make it fun!
Yoga
Yoga is a great exercise to do with a partner, especially if you don’t want to compete. A good yoga session can improve flexibility, relieve stress, and boost immunity (among other things).
Yoga is great to do with a partner because there’s no pressure to compete. You’re both listening to what your bodies have to say and working to get better. On top of that, it feels good.
Hiking
Hiking is walking’s outdoorsy cousin. It gives you most of the same benefits as walking but works your cardiovascular abilities more and builds strength more quickly.
It’s a great way to explore the outdoors and get some fresh air while spending quality time with someone you like.
Taking a group class
If you want to do something even more intense, try taking a group class with your partner. Group classes are a great way to expand your duo into a team.
When you take a group class with someone you know, it’s a lot less intimidating than going alone. You’ll feel way more comfortable and be able to challenge yourself without feeling like you’re doing the wrong thing.
