How to Create a Game Plan for Success?
When it is about your fitness journey, imagine yourself in a car about to drive to your destination. However, without a map or GPS to give you the directions to get there, you could end up going off the cliff before you know it. When it comes to your fitness journey, there is no winging it. You need a game plan if you want to win and reach your desired results, with as few detours as possible.
Steps to Creating a Successful Game Plan:
- Know What Your Goals Are, and do not be vague! When it comes to your goals, you want to be as specific as possible. Do not say “it would be nice to lose weight,” have clarity and conviction, saying, “My goal is to lose 20 lbs of body fat.”
- Set a Timeline. There is a difference when you set a timeline for your goals. Goals without timelines are like a wish because there is no urgency behind your actions. Timelines keep you accountable and add more specificity to your goals. Would you instead get to your desired destination in a month, 3 months, 6 months, one year, 5 years? Be specific and realistic so that you can set yourself up to win!

3. Set Milestone Success Markers Along the Way. You must know if you’re on the right track, and to do so, setting little markers that measure success will help make sure that you stay on course. Not only that, but it also allows you to celebrate along the way, making the journey a lot more enjoyable and a lot less intimidating. Losing 20lbs can be daunting, but if you break it down and reverse engineer it so that its’ over 12 months, it is not so bad.
- Measure Often and Consistently. While the scale can be a scary thought for most people, you cannot manage what you do not measure, and although you don’t want to be obsessed with measuring and weighing yourself, it’s essential to do so consistently. This way, you can determine what works, what does not, and what you need to change your fitness and nutrition. Remember, ignorance is not bliss.
- Seek Coaching and Accountability. Weight loss is hard, so make sure you are not going through it alone. Finding the right support, guidance, and encouragement can be the difference between reaching your goals faster and without the frustration of avoiding the mistakes that others have made before you. Why go through your journey alone when you can go through it with people who care and want to see you win?
